Wire Hoe

The Hengers Wire Hoe was developed for hoeing sensitive crops on lighter sandy and peat soils.

Why did we develop it?

In dry conditions, conventional A-blades, goosefoot blades and L-blades are not ideal for lighter soils. When there is a lot of crop residue or weeds, these blades can start moving the soil. Because A-blades and goosefoot blades work from the inside towards the outside, soil can be pushed onto the crop. This can cause significant damage to sensitive crops, such as young onions.

Leaf protection discs are available as a solution. However, these discs can also cause damage. When hoeing very close to the plants, the discs can cut off stems or leaves.

Wire Hoe

The Wire Hoe works from the outside towards the inside, preventing soil from being pushed onto the plants. The open design allows the soil to pass through freely.

The horizontally positioned wire pushes leaves and stems aside without damaging the crop.

In short: you can hoe very close to the plants without damaging the crop!

Specifications

The Wire Hoe consists of 7 mm curved wires made from galvanised spring steel.

The wires are attached to a special holder that fits almost any brand of hoeing machine. The holder has a 30 x 10 mm shank, the same size as those used for conventional hoeing blades.

Compatible with, among others: Steketee, Schmotzer, Einböck, Hatzenbichler, Carré and Kress.

The correct position of the Wire Hoe is fixed at the front of the holder using square plates. Once the correct position has been set, the Wire Hoe can be shortened to the required length.
